Southern Summit HVAC: Our Terms of Service
The ground rules for hiring us, for using this website, and for the text messages we send. Written to be read, not to hide anything. Last updated July 30, 2026.
Our Promise: How We Work With You
We show up, we tell you the truth about your equipment, and we stand behind our work. You pay us for the work when it is done. If something goes wrong, call us first and we will make it right. Everything below is the longer version of that.
Who these terms are between
These terms are an agreement between you and Southern Summit Heating & Cooling LLC (“Southern Summit Heating & Cooling,” “we,” “us”), a licensed heating and cooling contractor in Hickory, NC — NC License #33148. They apply when you use this website, when you contact us, and when you hire us to do work. If you do not agree with them, do not use the site and do not book work with us.
What we do and where
We install, repair and maintain residential heating and cooling equipment — air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces, ductless mini-splits, ductwork and indoor air quality equipment — for homes across Burke, Catawba, Caldwell, McDowell and Rutherford counties in North Carolina. If you are outside that area, call and ask; we will tell you honestly whether we can get to you.
We work on residential systems. We are not taking on large commercial or industrial projects, and we will say so up front rather than take a job we are not the right fit for.
Estimates, diagnostics and pricing
Estimates for replacement and installation work are free. Diagnostic visits on a system that is not working may carry a service charge, and we will tell you what that charge is before we come out — never after.
An estimate is based on what we can see at the time we write it. If we open up a system or a crawlspace and find something nobody could have known about, we stop, show you, and tell you what it changes before we do the extra work. You will not get a surprise on the invoice.
Estimates are good for 30 days. Equipment pricing from manufacturers moves, and after 30 days we may need to re-quote.
Scheduling, access and cancellations
We will give you an arrival window and we will call or text if anything changes. Emergencies happen in this trade — a family with no heat in January gets moved up — and if that pushes your appointment we will tell you as soon as we know.
To do the work we need safe access to your equipment: the outdoor unit, the indoor unit, the attic or crawlspace, and the electrical panel. Please keep pets secured and the path clear. If we cannot safely reach the equipment we may have to reschedule.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, let us know as early as you can. If we arrive for a scheduled appointment and nobody is home and we cannot reach you, we may charge for the trip.
Payment
Unless we have agreed to something else in writing, payment is due when the work is finished. Installation and replacement jobs may require a deposit toward equipment before we order it, and we will tell you the amount in advance.
Past due balances may carry a late charge at the maximum rate North Carolina law allows. If a balance goes unpaid we may suspend warranty labor on that job until it is settled, and we may recover our reasonable collection costs.
Our warranty
On new equipment we install, we warrant our labor for 1 year and parts for 10 years, alongside whatever the manufacturer covers. Registration with the manufacturer may be required for the full parts term, and we handle that for you at installation.
Repairs carry a warranty on the specific part we replaced and our labor on it. We will tell you the term at the time of the repair.
What a warranty does not cover: damage from a power surge, storm, flood, fire, animal or rodent damage, someone else working on the system after us, running the system with a filter that is clogged or missing, a system that is not maintained, thermostat settings, refrigerant lost through a leak in equipment we did not install, or normal wear items. Skipped maintenance is the most common reason a warranty claim gets denied by the manufacturer, and there is nothing we can do about that after the fact.
Warranty work is performed during our normal business hours. If you need us after hours on a warranty issue, after-hours labor may apply.
Maintenance agreements
If you sign up for seasonal maintenance, the visits, what is included, the price and the term are set out on the agreement itself. Those terms control if they differ from anything here.
Licensing and insurance
We are licensed in North Carolina (NC License #33148) and we carry liability insurance and workers' compensation as required. We will provide proof of either on request. Any subcontractor we bring onto your job is required to carry the same.
Text messaging terms
These terms cover the text messages sent by Southern Summit Heating & Cooling LLC.
Signing up. By giving us your mobile number — on a form on this website, in the chat, in person, or by texting us first — and agreeing to receive texts, you consent to receive text messages from us at that number, including messages sent by an automated system. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of buying anything from us. You can always just call.
What we send. Appointment confirmations and reminders, on-the-way notifications, estimates and invoices, questions about your system, follow-up after a job, review requests, and seasonal maintenance reminders. Some replies may be handled by an automated assistant before a person picks it up.
How often. Message frequency varies based on your service and the jobs you have with us.
Cost. Message and data rates may apply. We do not charge you for the messages; your mobile carrier may, according to your plan. Check with your carrier if you are not sure.
To stop. Reply STOP to any message at any time. You will get one final message confirming that you have been unsubscribed, and after that we will not text you again unless you sign back up. You can also call us at (828) 308-0928 or email southernsummit1@gmail.com and ask us to take your number off.
For help. Reply HELP to any message for our contact information, or reach us directly at (828) 308-0928 or southernsummit1@gmail.com.
Carriers and delivery. Supported carriers include AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, Sprint, Boost Mobile, MetroPCS, U.S. Cellular, Cricket, Virgin Mobile and others. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Text messaging is not a guaranteed delivery service, so do not use text messaging for an emergency — if you have no heat, no cooling, or you suspect a gas leak, call us at (828) 308-0928, and call 911 or your gas utility if anyone is in danger.
Your information. How we handle your mobile number is covered in our Privacy Policy. In short: no mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and opt-in data is never sold or shared except with the providers who deliver the messages for us.
Using this website
You are welcome to read this site, print a page, and send it to a neighbor. You may not copy our photos, text or logo for your own business, scrape the site, or try to break into it.
Every photo of equipment and work on this site is a real photo from one of our jobs. The words on our service pages describe how we normally work; they are not a promise about your particular house, which we have not seen yet.
Prices, availability and content on the site can change without notice. We do our best to keep it accurate and current, and if you spot something wrong we would like to know.
Other people's links and tools
This site links out to other places — our Google Business Profile, our Facebook page, manufacturer sites — and it uses tools built by other companies for the contact form, the chat, and reviews. We do not control those companies or their websites, and their terms and privacy policies apply when you use them.
Limits on what we are responsible for
We are responsible for doing our work in a workmanlike manner and for damage we actually cause. We are not responsible for pre-existing problems with your home, your ductwork, your electrical, or your equipment that we did not create; for damage from failing to maintain a system; for temperature or utility bill outcomes that depend on insulation, windows, and how the house was built; or for losses that are indirect — lost wages, spoiled food, hotel bills — unless North Carolina law says otherwise.
Except where the law does not allow it, our total liability on any job is limited to what you paid us for that job. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under North Carolina consumer protection law, and nothing here limits our responsibility for injury caused by our negligence.
If you have a problem with our work, call us first, and give us a fair chance to come look at it and fix it. That has solved every issue so far.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts serving Catawba County, North Carolina.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site or to hire us after a change means the updated terms apply.
