Heat Pump Installation & Replacement

Western North Carolina is heat pump country. We size and install systems that hold up to foothills winters without running your bill through the roof.

Most homes around Hickory, Morganton, Lenoir and Marion run on heat pumps, and for good reason — our winters are cold but not brutal, which is exactly where a heat pump earns its keep. The catch is that an undersized or badly installed heat pump leans on expensive backup heat all winter, and the homeowner pays for it every month on the power bill.

We install Goodman, Ruud and Bosch heat pumps, including variable-speed and inverter systems where the house makes sense for it. We size to the actual load, set the backup heat staging correctly, and verify the charge and airflow at startup. That is the difference between a heat pump that saves you money and one that just costs less to buy.

Common questions

Do heat pumps really work in our winters?
Yes. Western North Carolina is close to ideal heat pump climate. Modern equipment holds efficiency well into the 20s, and the backup heat covers the handful of nights that go colder.
Why is my power bill so high with a heat pump?
Nine times out of ten it is backup heat running when it should not be — bad staging, a low charge, a stuck defrost board or an undersized unit. It is worth having checked.
Should I get a variable-speed system?
It depends on your house and how long you plan to stay in it. We will give you the honest tradeoff instead of steering you to the biggest ticket.
Can you replace just the outdoor unit?
Sometimes, but mismatched indoor and outdoor equipment usually costs you efficiency and can void the parts warranty. We will tell you when it is a reasonable option and when it is not.
